The Portobello/PROMIS Group is a collection of specialist behavioural health organisations that together provide one of the most comprehensive continuums of care available in the United Kingdom. Our organisations work in close clinical collaboration, sharing expertise, resources, and a commitment to the highest standards of evidence-based practice.
What unites us is a belief that effective mental health and addiction treatment cannot be delivered in isolation. Recovery is a journey — and the organisations within our group are designed to support patients at every stage of that journey, from initial assessment through to long-term independent living.

Cardinal Clinic
Founded in 1979, Cardinal Clinic is one of the UK's leading private mental health clinics. Based in Windsor, Berkshire — 15 minutes from Heathrow — we provide consultant-led assessment and treatment for the full spectrum of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, eating disorders, ADHD, and professional burnout.
We offer a complete range of care settings: outpatient, day patient, and residential treatment, as well as our specialist Cardinal Compass Programme for patients transitioning from intensive treatment back to independent living. Our team of over 50 consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists are among the most experienced in their fields.
Cardinal Clinic is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), rated Good overall with an Outstanding rating for Caring.

PROMIS
PROMIS is one of the world's leading addiction treatment centres, with a reputation built over more than 30 years of clinical excellence. Offering residential and outpatient programmes at its centres in London and Kent, PROMIS provides specialist treatment for substance addictions (alcohol, drugs, prescription medication) and behavioural addictions (gambling, sex, internet, eating disorders).
PROMIS pioneered the integration of the 12-Step model with evidence-based psychotherapy in the UK, and its clinical approach is widely regarded as among the most effective in the field. Its team includes some of the country's most experienced addiction psychiatrists, psychologists, and counsellors.
For Cardinal Clinic patients with co-occurring addiction and mental health conditions, PROMIS provides a seamless specialist pathway — with shared clinical records, coordinated care planning, and direct referral between our teams.

Portobello Behavioural Health is the parent organisation of the group, providing the strategic and operational framework that enables Cardinal Clinic and PROMIS to collaborate effectively as a clinical network.
Beyond its organisational role, Portobello provides direct clinical services in the form of case management, behavioural health coaching, and community support — services designed specifically to bridge the gap between intensive clinical treatment and independent living. These services are available to patients of both Cardinal Clinic and PROMIS, and form an important part of the long-term recovery pathway.
Portobello's case managers work alongside our clinical teams to coordinate care across the group, ensuring that patients moving between services experience a genuinely seamless transition — with no gaps in support, no duplication of assessment, and no loss of clinical continuity.
